Performative Presentations
JELO6 Project seeks to redefine the conventional exhibition approach to Contemporary Jewelry. Traditionally, such jewelry has been presented as static sculptures, frozen in time and space; 3D representations isolated on a white background, detached from the vibrancy of everyday life and spaces, as if laid bare, devoid of reciprocal exchanges.
This edition of JELO6 aims to reintroduce the dynamics of the body and its movements into the exhibition space, embracing the senses, including proprioception. Thus, we transition into the realm of performance, recalling the ritualistic nature of adornment.
Jewelry converges with performance art, forming a fusion of wearable narratives intricately connected to the artist's gestural expression and the wearers' kinesthetic awareness. This synergy introduces a tactile dimension, where each piece becomes an integral part of a visually compelling choreography, engaging the audience in a multisensory experience.
In this amalgamation, jewelry transcends mere adornment; it becomes an active participant in the performance. The interplay of light, sound (including background noise), and physicality establishes an intensified connection between the wearer and the audience. The immersive experience surpasses the traditional boundaries of both jewelry and performance, prompting observers to engage on a visceral level and fostering a profound connection with the art in motion.
During these performances, we intend to showcase numerous pieces and artists. Designated time and space will be allocated for:
Angelos Angelidis, Elpida Diakopoulou, Evangelie Dimitriou, Jorge Manilla, Niki Stylianou, Rita Martinez, Sarah Andrea, Sofia Paschou.
Special guest: Ira Brami.
